Camp Kurlungka 2018
Camp Kurlungka, IBN’s on-country kids camp in Karijini, has wrapped up for another year and we’d like to say a huge thank you to our staff and the kid’s (pictured above with talented singer, Josie Alec) for making this year another deadly camp.
Camp Kurlungka is about connecting kids with country. Fifteen kids from across the Pilbara came together to spend a week in Karijini learning from elders about culture and language. They built new friendships and enjoyed new experiences through music, dance, food and sport.
A few highlights included campfire stories with IBN Elders, sports with FairGame and creating an all singing, all dancing show that they performed on the closing night of the Karijini Experience.
This is the third time IBN has held the camp and it wouldn’t be possible without the help of our generous sponsors, hardworking staff and volunteers.
Thank you to Sodexo, Pilbara Foods, FairGame, Department of Parks and Wildlife, Gumala Enterprises Pty Ltd, Coates Hire and the Tom Price Youth Support Association for their valuable support.
Funding was also generously received from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
We will be releasing a short YouTube clip about this year’s camp soon but for now, click here to view a few pictures. Stay tuned to find out how to get involved in Camp Kurlungka next year…!
