Responsibilities

The Field Officer (Housing) is responsible for assisting IBN people to a range of services in conjunction with the Department of Housing and service providers. The IBN Service Delivery team is committed to improving access to housing through general case management and individual support for IBN Community Members to access services and other support.

Essential Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum Certificate III in Community Services or progress towards the same
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to develop effective networks with service providers, government agencies, and community organisations
  • Communicate effectively with housing service providers and community members
  • Provide written reports, verbal advice and operational support as and when required
  • General case management and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Experience in keeping accurate records to assist in effective case management and future program planning
  • Experience working with Aboriginal people and an understanding of Aboriginal culture

Desirable skills, attributes and experience

  • Experience in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating programs
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with people from different backgrounds
  • Analytical and able to make quick judgements
  • An ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner with an ability to support members and colleagues working in a cross cultural environment
  • Ability to work autonomously, help set and meet project objectives
  • Highly developed skills and experience in the use of computer programs
