IBN would like to advise Members of an upcoming alert system test that will trigger a notification and a loud sound on devices such as mobile phones, tablets, and smart watches.
The Australian Government is launching AusAlert – a new national warning system that will send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices. It will be used to keep people informed during disasters like floods, cyclones and bushfires.

A national test will be held on Monday 27 July at 12:00pm AWST. Devices such as phones, tablets, and smart watches may receive an alert. The message will vibrate and include a loud, siren-like sound that last about 10 seconds, even if your phone is on silent or do not disturb.
If this could cause you or someone you know to feel unsafe, please turn off your devices or switch them to flight mode before the scheduled test time and leave them off for at least one hour following.
As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything. AusAlert notifications during emergencies will include instructions to help keep you safe.
