Last week, IBN hosted a festive lunch to celebrate the season with our Elders, bringing folks together to share a meal and a laugh.

The event was held at the Hedland office on Kariyarra Country, where Elders gathered to enjoy a delicious lunch prepared with care by IBN and YIC staff. The day was a wonderful opportunity to spend time together, share stories, and celebrate.

A special highlight was the live entertainment provided by Clara, a talented young Indigenous singer who attends school in Perth and returns to her family in Hedland in the holidays. Her performance was enjoyed by all as she sang a few favourites and showcased her passion for music.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to YIC for their generous gift baskets, which were warmly received by Elders and can be used to prepare a home-cooked Christmas meal to enjoy with family.

Thank you to everyone who contributed their time and effort to make this celebration possible – it was a special way to honour our Elders and enjoy some time in the holiday season together!
