Building Strong Foundations at IBN Directors Induction Day
In December, IBN Directors came together for a dedicated induction day designed to support them in their roles and lay a strong foundation for the year ahead. The session focused on the core responsibilities of being a Director.
Board Members were immersed in a comprehensive overview of Directors’ duties and obligations, alongside a clear explanation of the Trust’s structure and how IBN operates in practice. The morning session was designed to ensure all Directors shared a common understanding governance expectations, decision-making processes and responsibilities, and the framework within which IBN functions.
The afternoon session broadened to include IMS Directors, creating a valuable space for shared knowledge and discussion. Independent Member of the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee, Phil Barker, also joined the session, to explore the history of IBN and the journey that has shaped the organisation to date. Reflecting on this history provided important context for current and future strategy and decision-making.
The Directors also worked through IBN’s key guiding documents, including the Strategic Plan, Operational Plan, and Investment Strategy. These discussions helped connect governance responsibilities with practical implementation, ensuring Directors are well equipped to contribute effectively to oversight, strategy, and long term sustainability.
Overall, the induction day was a valuable step in supporting IBN Directors and reinforcing their knowledge and commitment to strong governance and effective leadership.
