IBN is the Trustee for the Mining Area C (MAC) Agreement between BHP Billiton Pty Ltd and the IBN Claim Group – the Yinhawangka, Banyjima and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara.
Established in 2001, IBN is a charitable business operated for the advancement and prosperity of these communities. We provide programs and services to raise the personal, social and economic wellbeing of our members and deliver support and programs in health, education, housing, culture, enterprise development and employment.
IBN’s head office is in South Hedland, Western Australia, approximately 350 kilometres north of the Mining Area C Project and we also have offices in Tom Price, Karratha and Perth.
Based in South Hedland and reporting to the Operations Support Manager (OSM), the Project Officer: Operations Support and Communications ensures that IBN leaders at a strategic and operational level are provided with efficient, accurate and confidential administrative and executive assistance. Communications ensures that IBN’s critical information is communicated effectively to employees, IBN Members and external audiences. The role delivers effective, targeted and credible communications.
Core responsibilities of this role include and are not limited:
Communications
- Media relations focal point, representing the work of IBN to internal and external parties, including members of the press and other media representatives.
- Maintain and manage IBN’s profile, brand integrity and awareness by collaborating with established services providers
- Collaborating with established services providers to plan strategies, communications plan and implementation of marketing activities, corporate advertising, community events, external/internal communications, graphic design and printing Canva, SMS Global, Mailchimp and Survey Monkey
- Reviewing and editing content to a professional standard
- Manage various media / publishing platforms such as: Adobe, Rush, Lumiere, Photoshop, Creative Cloud and Other duties as required
- End to end Project / Event coordination and administration (scope, time, quality, cost / budget, information, resources, communication, risk integration, reporting)
- Project and task support across the Operations Support Team (based on IBN’s strategic objectives): systems, processes, Elders and youth, fleet and property.
Operations Support
- Customer service (to meet the expectations of members and stakeholders)
- Consumables, mail and merchandise procurement and coordination
- Purchasing and budget tracking
- IBN Board and Representative Corporation administration as directed by OSM
- Contribute to the development and improvement of WHS and risk management initiatives and practices in the workplace
Essential Candidate Requirements
- Experience in Project Management and/or Business Administration (Tertiary qualifications would be favourable)
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Officer and other relevant software packages (exposure to CRM and Office 365 would be highly regarded)
- Professional literacy standards
- Experience in working with Aboriginal people and understanding Aboriginal Australian culture is essential
- Strong customer service skills
- Demonstrated experience with executive level administration
- Fundamental Project management skills (scope, time, quality, cost, information, communication, risk, integration)
- Large scale event management
- Excellent Microsoft Suite skills and confidently able to produce reports, spreadsheets and branding work suitable for publication
- Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain
- National Police Clearance, or willingness to obtain
- Current WA “C” class license
