Stronger Together

celebrating 25 years of IBN through story, song, and culture

Stronger TogetherĀ is a powerful community music project created across a week of songwriting, recording, and filming at Wakathuni and Tom Price. The project brought young people and community together to celebrate culture, connection, and 25 years of IBN.

Throughout 2026, IBN is celebrating our 25th Anniversary by acknowledging our achievements, showcasing Members, and honouring the dreams of those who came before us. The Tom Price Music Project is one of many ways we are marking this milestone.

To reflect shared stories, culture, and legacy, school aged IBN Youth were invited to collaborate in the songwriting process, and the wider school aged community were encouraged to join them in bringing the song to life through the filming of the music video. The result is one to be proud of – a creative expression of community, identity, and connection.

At the heart of Stronger TogetherĀ is the power of sharing stories and language, and the importance of Country. Throughout the project, IBN Youth came together to explore their experiences, connection to place, and the things that make their communities special. These ideas became the foundation for a song that reflects the essence of the region.

The lyrics draw inspiration from the red dirt, hot sun, Elders, bush medicine, Karijini, the Milky Way, and creator story – weaving together day to day experiences with deep cultural knowledge to create a piece about belonging, connection, and pride.

The song also features Yinhawangka Elder and IBN Member Brendon Cook, who shared and recorded language connected to the Mamma Marngoonjbah creator Dreaming story. His contribution brings deep cultural context to the project, linking generations and strengthening the sharing of language and history with young people.

From writing to recording to filming, Stronger Together was created over an action packed week in the Pilbara. The project was created by IBN in partnership with Grand Trine Creative, Dallas Woods, and Kian Brownfield, along with students from Tom Price Primary School, North Tom Price Primary School, Tom Price Senior High School, and the Polly Farmer Foundation’s Follow the Dream Program.

Stronger Together celebrates the ancestry of the young people from the region and centres their voices, providing an opportunity for them to express who they are, where they come from, and what their communities mean to them. The project also honours the strength and richness of the Yinhawangka, Banyjima, and Nyiyaparli language groups, recognising the important role that language and culture lay in connecting people to Country, family, and community.

The final product is more than a song or a music video – it is a snapshot of community and, like IBN’s roots, the experience of coming together to create something meaningful and lasting.

As IBN celebrates 25 years of supporting its Members, Stronger TogetherĀ provides a powerful way to honour the past while looking towards the future.

It celebrates the stories, culture, and those that have come before, while giving young people the opportunity to add their own voices to the story.
