IBN is the Trustee for the Mining Area C (MAC) Agreement between BHP Billiton Pty Ltd and the IBN Claim Group – the Yinhawangka, Banyjima and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara.

Established in 2001, IBN is a charitable business operated for the advancement and prosperity of these communities.  We provide programs and services to raise the personal, social and economic wellbeing of our members and deliver support and programs in health, education, housing, culture, enterprise development and employment. IBN’s head office is in South Hedland, Western Australia, approximately 350 kilometres north of the Mining Area C Project and we also have offices in Tom Price, Karratha and Perth.

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Field Officer to join our team in South Hedland. 

The Field Officer is responsible for general case management and support relating to education, health, employment for IBN Members. The Field Officer plays a crucial role in providing assistance to Members by offering a blend of virtual, in person, and administrative support; with the ability to communicate and liaise with diverse stakeholders. The role sits within the Member Services Team and reports to either the Member Services Assistant Manager or Karratha & Tom Price Team Leader dependent on role location.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities of this role include and are not limited: 

  • Provide assistance and support for Members
  • Pro-active contact and case management with Members in consultation with reporting line
  • Case Management providing personal support to members in all areas of social development including employment, training, and general access to public and community infrastructure and services. This role includes; 
  • The Development of networks with relevant agencies to ensure members have access to support systems;
  • Identify barriers for members to social and economic advancement and assist Members to overcome them. 
  • Community Programs
  • Assist Members in applying for help from the IBN Community Programs, to the point of Registration;
  • Make recommendations as appropriate regarding complex applications for assistance under the Community Programs
  • Maintain complete, accurate and secure records of interactions with Members and ensure that the highest standard of confidentiality and appropriate conduct is maintained in relation to the above duties.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of WHS and risk management initiatives and practices in the 
  • workplace.
  • Other duties as required.

Essential Candidate Requirements

  • Certificate minimum III in Community Services or progress towards the same highly regarded
  • Current First Aid Certificate of willingness to complete
  • Current Western Australia C-Class Driver’s licence
  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Working with Children Check as necessary
  • Experience working with Aboriginal people and understanding of Aboriginal Australian culture
  • Demonstrated understanding of the maintenance of confidentiality and integrity in the workplace
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • High level organisational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • High proficiency in Microsoft office suite
  • 2-3 years’ experience in Community Services
